The Higher Population Council and Share-Net Jordan held today, Wednesday, the annual meeting of the members of Share-Net Jordan for 2022 who represent various national public, private, volunteering bodies, international organizations and academic institutions.
The annual meeting aimed to review the accomplishment of Share-Net for 2022 and the future aspirations of 2023 and to present the significant results of Jordan participation in the third international conference of Share-Net International (Co-Creativity: " Participation in the Translation of Knowledge Together") which was held in Columbia in this July and organized by Share-Net International and Share-Net Columbia entitled "Access quality information of sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights (Technologies, accessibility, translations of knowledge and new challenges such as anti-disinformation)”.
On the sidelines of the meeting, an exhibition was held to present the significant knowledge findings in the field of sexual and productive health of studies, films, brochures, promotional materials and other related to partner institutions working in this field.
The Secretary General of the Higher Population Council, Dr. Issa Almasarwah, stated that the council has hosted Share-Net in Jordan since 2016 and will continue until 2024 also that the council is considered the national contact point with Share-Net International Organization to implement its services in Jordan through its local partners. Share-Net Jordan aims to establish an interactive online platform to support the researches related to reproductive health with the participation of the concerned partner of various sectors in addition to facilitating building and dissemination of knowledge about reproductive health and building the key partners capabilities to identify knowledge gaps.
Almasarwah indicated that there are some challenges that face the reproductive and sexual health issues in Jordan; especially the limited integration between the programs of reproductive and sexual health and the primary healthcare programs in the health centers and the Obstetrics and Gynecology services at the hospitals, lack and weakness of the programs that assess the level of the reproductive and sexual health services currently provided in both private and public sectors, the extent of service providers compliance with the accredited protocols and the satisfaction of its beneficiaries, weakness of reproductive and sexual health services provided to Syrian refugees and the existence of financial, social, cultural, awareness barriers that prevent accessing such services.
He also draw attention to the knowledge findings exhibition in the field of reproductive and sexual health services related to the partner institutions working in this field aims to introduce the national achievements in this fields and to exchange knowledge and expertise between the partner bodies to benefit all parties.
Almasarwah confirmed that facing these challenges related to reproductive and sexual health requires unifying the national public and private efforts, and hard and cooperative work to support such issues through adopting and implementing planned, methodological and studies initiatives to achieve targeted aims in this field.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Mohannad Alazeh, reviewed the significant results of Jordan's participation in the third international conference of Share-Net International (Co-creativity: "Participation in the Translation of Knowledge Together"), Also, the Director of the Studies and Policies Unit and the Coordinator of Share-Net Jordan Project, Ali Almetleq, the accomplishments of Share-Net of 2020 and the future aspirations of 2023.
It is noted that Share-Net International is an organization incorporated by the Polish Foreign Ministry as a knowledge base that combines the expertise of the polish institutions and partners of the south countries and international institutions that work in the field of reproductive health field for the purposes of supporting the knowledge role in establishing policies and practices based on evidences and proofs, guarantee using the resources in strategic way to achieve the most benefit on the local and international level to cooperate to establish a platform to support the reproductive health researches.
