This research is important to identify how future models of maternity care can be more focused on womens specific needs, not just on the professionals needs or those of the maternity system. This study was also undertaken to provide hospital administrators and policymakers with evidence on which to base decisions about the organization and provision of health care services with the goal of providing high-quality care to women during childbirth.
CONCLUSION
Our study has demonstrated that many women in these public maternity hospitals in Jordan perceive that the care they receive is inadequate. The identification of aspects of positive and negative experiences can be a powerful means to bring about changes in health care systems. Recognizing and respecting patients needs and requirements can play a major role in designing health care systems and making quality improvements. This study provides important evidence for health care policymakers and care providers who are looking for better strategies and provision of health care services that are able to provide quality care to women during childbirth.
